Are Weight loss programs covered by insurance |
Most people who are looking to lose weight are aware that they currently have to pay for at least a portion of their care. What we found was that nearly three-quarters of the insurance companies that we contacted actually covered it. That being said, most of the plans that cover weight loss programs do not pay for it directly; they only pay for the initial screening, which allows them to find out if you are eligible and then cover the rest of the costs. We found, though, that the most common plans that actually did cover it were the Bronze, Silver and Gold PPO plans.
Health care is a right. Insurance is a privilege. Insuring your health should be a right, not a privilege. I was uninsured for nearly a decade because it was expensive to get a medical policy that fully covered my health conditions when I was younger.
I know a good weight-loss program that is covered by insurance. It has worked for me and my family. You pay a monthly fee for the program, which is more expensive than most diets, but it works. The program uses a mix of diet and exercise.
We are talking about what is insurance and what is not insurance. We also need to talk about the role of public or private organizations. We need to talk about how the insurance companies view their role in the health care system. We may need to talk about how private insurance companies view the health care system.
My insurance is through my job. They are going to pay for the Weight Watchers and Slim Fast meal program, but I still have to pay the cost of the meetings. I can pay about $85 a month, but as far as the weight loss program, I still have to pay the cost of the meeting and the food.
