How Weight loss works |
The human brain can regulate the number of calories that one is taking in, and how many calories one is storing as fat. However, there is no way of monitoring the number of calories or fats are being burned from the body. Weight loss can happen via a number of different methods. For example, weight loss through exercise.
The most common goal of weight loss is to gain muscle mass or lose fat mass
The idea of calorie restriction is that if someone restricts the amount of calories they consume and then either increases their physical activity or burns the calories off through a form of physical exercise, they may be able to not only lose weight but also maintain this loss long term. The underlying rationale is that if you eat less you cannot grow as much, and if you exercise more you cannot grow as much. This is the basis for why weight loss for the average person is so difficult because our bodies grow in response to the food and energy we consume. In order to lose weight and keep it off, the calories ingested have to be less than the calories expended.
