According to a study of more than 11,000 overweight and obese individuals, weight loss attempts increased among adults 50 to 59 years old, and the increase in weight loss attempts occurred regardless of gender, body mass index, and the weight loss methods attempted.

The question of whether or not to diet is a controversial subject. The majority of people are of the opinion that the only way to lose weight is by dieting. Some people believe that they have the power to lose weight by restricting certain foods or by exercising for the right amount of time and that the act of dieting is unhealthy and unnecessary. The issue, however, is that this assumption is not necessarily true.

Some of the reasons that people can benefit from weight loss are: 

To most people, food is not only the best thing to do, but it’s also the one activity they can do every day of the week without fail. And because it’s so accessible and convenient, we don’t have to really make an effort to do it right. We might exercise a bit more or pay a bit more attention to what we eat, but we don’t have to work very hard to fit in a good, healthy meal every day. That’s just the way it is.
